About Me

My name is Katherine and I am the owner of Kanine Konnections based in Carnoustie, in the beautiful north east of Scotland. Inspired to train as a clinical canine massage therapist by my big dog Duke who has hip dysplasia and enabled by my little Podenco Andaluz, Ella I completed the 2 year practitioner training programme under Natalie Lenton and her team. Through that course I trained extensively in canine anatomy and physiology, studying gait and posture analysis, common pathologies and the holistic use of 4 disciplines of massage including sports, swedish, deep tissue and myofascial bodywork including the Lenton methodโ„ข

This premier therapy works on the body as a whole addressing muscular injuries and the areas of overcompensation that occur, improving mobility and zest for life as well as enhancing a dogs natural ability to recover from injury or manage life-long orthopaedic conditions. Helping to address performance of sporting and working dogs, allowing pet dogs to continue enjoying their walks and activities. Canine massage therapy can produce amazing results for all dogs. If they are living with conditions such as arthritis, hip or elbow dysplasia and cruciate ligament damage, working by reducing tension and addressing overcompensation, maybe they are getting a bit older, slower or stiffer, or if they are athletes or performers in the world of dog sports or competition.

I also provide laser therapy through my super pulsed Multiradiance medical grade laser which is particularly useful for dealing with ligament and tendon issues, chronic pain, deep muscle injury and resolution of trigger points.

Get Treatment – Clinical Canine Massage/Laser

If you are ready to get your dog booked in for treatment there are a couple of things that you need to do.

I strictly adhere to the Veterinary Act 1966 and Veterinary Exemptions Order 2015. I will not work on a dog without signed consent in place. This consent is required to protect your dog and ensure that continuity of care is provided by and for your vet.

My consent form is available as a download here and it simply asks your vet to assess if your dog is fit to receive treatment from me. Once the form has been signed off by you and your vet you can either bring it with you to our first appointment or take a photo and email, message or WhatsApp it to me

I also have a PDF information cover letter that you can send to your vet downloadable here and a PDF version of my consent form that you would have to download and print off here

This will keep you and your vet informed as we progress. I will also provide a report for your vet once we have completed 3 sessions. I will share all the information I can with you throughout our sessions from the first palpation to the final report and any changes I feel in between.

Once you have the signed consent back from your vet you can use my online client portal to book appointments, upload information and chat with me about any questions that you have. I will also send you a back ground information form that will make sure I have all the necessary information and background that I need to treat your dog effectively.

After our first session I will tell you what I was able to feel and see and also tell you about what I plan to do over the course of treatment. Normally I would carry out 3 sessions over a period of 3 to 5 weeks. This has been found to have the best effect and also allows me to build a relationship with your dog that will let me to treat them more effectively. Sometimes I might require a little extra time and other times it make take less. I am always guided by the dog in front of me and will discuss with you what is going to happen next.

The final thing I will do is share my aftercare instructions with you which we will already have discussed. Sometimes dogs can experience a healing crisis, or Herxheimer reaction, I will fully explain what that means and what you, and your dog, might experience.

All prices, timing and appointment details, including booking and availability are available on my client portal please click this link and register.
